Mix is the successor of StumbleUpon.1 I think of it as a platform of platforms. Where StumbleUpon found websites, Mix finds content on major platforms. Platforms of interest includes:
- YouTube.
- Reddit.
- Twitter (X).
- Tumblr.
- Imgur.
- Websites (Primarily blogs or other written forms).
I find its recommendation system to be more on the inspirational side. The content that the default “For you” topic suggests are likely to be dated albeit extremely aesthetic.
For finding obscure content, these hidden topics often do it for me:
- Smart Sampling: Unknown as to what this does. Though, content is relevant, has aesthetic and for the most part, hasn’t been viewed by anyone on Mix.
Mix is sort of a social platform. Users are able to curate content on the mobile app. This includes most websites. On the social aspect, mutual followers can share content to each other. My profile can be found at @bunnynabbit.
Interestingly, the staging site is public. However, it functions wildly different from the production site. Despite recommendations being unguided, there is potentially usage of discovering content.
